A Des Moines Register poll shows a big drop in the percentage of Iowans who support President Barack Obama's handling of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
The poll, published in a copyright story in Monday's newspaper, shows 38 percent of Iowans approve of Obama's managing of the wars.
That's a drop of 16 percentage points from a poll taken for the newspaper two months ago.
On Tuesday night, Obama will announce his strategy for Afghanistan and the possibility of sending more troops to the country.
The telephone poll of 800 Iowans age 18 and older was conducted by Selzer & Co. from Nov. 8-11. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
