Police say an 18-year-old drunk driving suspect leapt off a bridge into the Des Moines River to avoid capture.
Aaron Lane is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, interference with official acts and swimming illegally in the river.
Police say Lane lost control of the Nissan Maxima he was driving late Friday, and it rolled over. He and a passenger allegedly fled on foot as officers approached.
The passenger, 18-year-old Marshal Wilkerson, was caught and has been charged with public intoxication.
Police say Lane kept running and jumped into the river as an officer got close to him.
He was pulled from the river and treated for hypothermia and minor injuries.
It was not immediately clear whether the men have attorneys.
