With the Thanksgiving travel season upon us, there's an extra trip on the minds of many Husker fans.
Nebraska will face Texas for the Big 12 Championship game in Dallas on December 5th.
And interest in going to the game is brisk.
One person not talking about the Big 12 Championship game is the man who won the conference's North Division title.
"I told our people in the offices ...the coaching staff. I don't want to hear about plans about travel plans, about tickets or anything else about the Big 12 title game,” Head Coach Bo Pelini said. “That means nothing. That time will come."
Pelini wants total focus on Colorado this Friday.
But fans are focusing a little further in the future.
Of nearly 12,000 tickets available for Husker fans, 11,000 were scooped up by donors.
That left about 1,000 tickets for the rest of us.
The line at the stadium ticket office shows the interest.
"I didn't get here since 5:30 this morning” Terry Hall of Lincoln said. “A pretty long wait and still not the first in line."
That honor goes to Otis Wood.
"I didn't get here until 6:45,” he said. “I was the first one to stand up here; everyone was sitting in their cars. We're going to leave Friday...me and a couple of friends."
Some fans didn't care where their seats were...just so they had tickets.
"What section? I just took what I got,” Cheryl said. “We're on the curve so it’s up high but we don't care. It's alright we're going to be there."
Fifteen minutes after opening --- all tickets were sold out.
"Demand was very high and the tickets went quickly," said Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing Holly Adam.
But husker fans will find tickets.
As for getting there?
"We are seeing that the planes that are chartered are filling up quickly as well as the motor coach tours and the availability out of Omaha to Texas is tightening up as well, so if you have an interest, we recommend don't delay,” Rose White of AAA said. “Book your trip as soon as you can."
One ticket that's already punched belongs to Pelini.
But he's not talking about it.
“Texas...that means nothing to me right now,” he said. “The only thing that matters to the football team is Colorado."
Executive Travel is hosting a championship game tour.
There are air and ground packages.
But most of the 400 spots have already been filled.
By 1PM Tuesday, there were only 20 spaces left.
Nebraska will not be receiving any additional tickets for the game.
Any remaining tickets must be purchased through Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (800) 745-3000, online at www.ticketmaster.com or in person at the Cowboys Stadium ticket office in Arlington, Texas.
Tickets will not be sold through the Big 12 Conference office.
