A poll published by The Des Moines Register Saturday indicates fewer than half of Iowans asked approve of President Obama's job performance.

The results show that Obama's job approval fell to 49 percent from 53 percent in September. His approval is down 19 percentage points since an Iowa poll in January.

An estimated 44 percent of respondents disapprove of Obama's job, while 7 percent said they weren't sure.

The telephone poll of 800 adult Iowans was conducted November 8th-11th by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Obama carried Iowa last year by winning 54 percent of the vote.
