Families across the nation were being formed Saturday, welcoming new children into their homes on the 10th anniversary of National Adoption Day.
Nearly 50 children were adopted into Douglas County homes. The Moxeys have adopted all five of their children, the latest two on Saturday. They say these latest additions will be the final touches to their family.
“We didn't start out to do this, we were probably going to be happy with two, it was just that the situation just arose that it worked out for us,” said mom Stacy Moxey. “We had no idea, well maybe we did, but we weren't planning on adopting."
There are still about 100 children in the care of the Nebraska Health and Human Services Department who aren't in adoptive homes. If you are interested in more information on adoption, call the Adoptive Partnership at 402-504-3666.
