Prosecutors have dismissed a first-degree murder charge against an alleged co-conspirator in the death of Brian Carson. In exchange, Ryan King pleaded guilty Friday to criminal conspiracy.
Carson's body was found in the trunk of his car last April.
Eight people were ultimately charged in the case, including Carson's wife, son and daughter.
Prosecutors alleged that Ryan King, Colton Novascone and Ryan Carson drove from Mississippi to Omaha to kill Ryan Carson's father, Brian Carson.
King says that he was there but did not take part in the murder.
By pleading to the reduced charge on Friday, King avoided the possibility of life in prison. He now faces one to 50 years and is scheduled for sentencing January 26, 2010.
