A Council Bluffs, Iowa couple are facing charges after making too many purchases of pseudoephedrine. Investigators believe the husband and wife intended to make meth.

Investigators say they received a tip from a Lincoln pharmacist. He reported several different people come into the Hy-Vee one at a time. Each would purchase a box of pseudoephedrine and then return to a Gold Plymouth Voyager van.

The same van was spotted a few days later at a Shopko and Walgreens in Lincoln. Again, the pharmacists say several people came in individually to purchase pseudoephedrine.

Deputies later stopped the van on I-80. During a search of the vehicle, officials found 322 assorted brands of pseudoephedrine tablets in an aspirin bottle.

Melissa and Skyler Spear of Council Bluffs were booked for possession of Ephedrine with intent to manufacture meth. If convicted, they could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
