Jayden Roland, a 2-month-old baby who suffered traumatic injuries as a result of being shaken, underwent surgery Thursday at Children's Hospital.

His grandmother, Janet Hunnel, tells Channel 6 News the surgery went well.

Doctors placed two separate drains inside the baby's head to alleviate swelling and pressure. The baby will be in the I.C.U. for a couple of days and may go home as early as next week.

Last week, police arrested the baby's father, 17-year-old Marcus Bass, for allegedly causing Jayden's injuries.

They say he admitted to shaking the baby after he wouldn't stop crying. The incident allegedly occurred while the Bass was watching the child overnight.

Jayden has been in the hospital since, but his family says he is doing better everyday.

The family has set up a fund under the name of Jayden M. Roland at U.S. Bank to help defray medical costs.
