A Lincoln man was on his way to work Thursday morning when, police say, he ignored the warning lights at a railroad crossing. Huy Nguyen's car was hit by an Amtrak train, killing him.

Investigators say the victim was an employee at Lester Electric in Lincoln.

Just before 6 a.m. Thursday, witnesses reported seeing a car maneuver around the cross arms at the railroad crossing near SW 1st Street and West A Street in Lincoln.

The Amtrak train slammed into the car at about 50 mph. It was en route to Chicago.

At the time, about 150 crew and passengers were on board. No one else was hurt.
