Who doesn't want to have pearly white teeth? A metro mother bought into a free trial offer for a teeth whitener and now has every reason to turn that smile upside down.
Lisa Porter spends her free time spoiling her two dogs, Cookie and Chip, but lately she's been spending a lot of time sorting out a free trial offer for teeth whiteners.
"On the Internet they say that a mom discovered this way to treat her daughter's smile to get her teeth brighter and it sounded very folksy and homey, so I was just intrigued."
She signed up for the 10-day free trial offer from Dazzle White and agreed to pay $1.95 shipping for two products. "You're supposed to use the two products together. According to the Internet directions, the Dazzle White and the Smile Bright."
Lisa says here's where the company gets you. One of the products comes quickly, but the company doesn't ship the second one until after the free trial offer expires. Ten days after you sign up, they start charging your card. Lisa says they've charged her almost $200.
She has repeatedly tried to call the company for a refund, but the company is refusing to refund her money. Six On Your Side called the parent company Premium White on Lisa's behalf.
It said they do not have a phone number or operators that deal with customer complaints, but it did give us an address to which we can mail her complaint.
Six On Your Side checked with the Better Business Bureau. Premium White has 870 complaints filed against it and an “F” rating.
Lisa did try the product and wasn't impressed. It burned her gums. “I thought anything that's fairly economical and works, I was going to try, but this is kind of a scam, I think.”
Lisa did cancel any future orders by calling the original 800 number the company listed. Again, those operators refused to refund her money.
Premium White is the umbrella company for more than 10 teeth whitening Web sites and other products like Acai berry pills and weight loss supplements.
