A botched execution in Ohio has some Nebraska attorneys calling on officials to reconsider a three drug, lethal injection protocol that would replace electrocution.
The attorneys spoke on Monday after a public hearing on the three drug protocol that is being proposed by the state Department of Correctional Services.
Nebraska has been without a means of carrying out the death penalty since early last year, when the state Supreme Court ruled that the electric chair was cruel and unusual punishment.
Ohio decided to replace a three drug protocol with one drug, following a botched execution on September 15th. The execution was halted when executioners couldn't find a suitable vein on a man convicted of killing a 14-year-old girl in 1984.
