The fire chief credits the quick response time and the quick work of firemen in saving the home at 2310 Bret Drive off 24th Avenue south of the intersection known as the “four corners.”

A resident noticed the flames in the chimney area and called 911. The potential for a big fire was there and water supply at the scene was a concern so mutual aid calls to Murray and Bellevue fire departments for tanker trucks and manpower were immediately issued. But the first firemen on scene got it under control.

“When crews got there, within a minute and a half the fire was knocked down,” said Plattsmouth Fire Chief Bill Dudek. “The fire was contained to the chimney area of the house. It was never given the chance to spread to the interior of the house.”
