Bellevue firefighters battled a blaze at a large shed on 36th Street between Cornhusker and Giles just before midnight Saturday. No one was hurt.

The shed, which contained machine tools, welding materials and diesel fuel, was a total loss.

Crews could do little more than surround it and keep the flames from spreading to nearby sheds. Firefighters said the fire had quite a head start before they were called.

"The person that actually found the fire, reported the fire, was walking his dog, smelled the smoke, came down the street, banged on the door where the shed was, woke those people up,” said Bellevue Fire Assistant Chief Andy Bierbrauer.

“They went outside, saw their shed involved in fire. The fire was already going through the roof and they called 911.” No word yet on what might have started the fire.
