Nebraska may seem like an unlikely target for terrorists, but state emergency-management personnel plan on being prepared just in case with a drill this November.
Officials will stage a fake hazardous-materials strike by terrorists in Lincoln, Scottsbluff and Grand Island on November 18th and 20th.
The events will test the statewide radio network launched in September that allows law-enforcement officials from different agencies and jurisdictions to communicate.
The event will also test four hazardous-materials teams, the Nebraska Emergency Operations Center and the Joint Information Center.
Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy, the state's homeland-security director, will lead the executive group responsible for policy decisions during the exercise.
