A Lincoln Police officer shot a fleeing driver in the arm after the driver tried to run the officer over Saturday evening.

Officers responding to a disturbance call outside an apartment complex near 4300 Cornhusker Highway around 5:30 p.m. encountered two vehicles speeding away.

One of the drivers, 18-year-old Brian Hassenplug of Lincoln, allegedly tried to run down an officer, then struck two parked cars and a police cruiser. Hassenplug fled the scene after being wounded, but was later captured and is hospitalized in stable condition.

He was wanted on a felony warrant from Lancaster County for possession of burglary tools and was also arrested for possession of stolen property and parole violation.
