The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department was called to a home invasion just before 6:30 Friday night. During the ordeal, one of the victims was pistol-whipped.
It happened near Mudhollow Road and Hanover Lane north of Council Bluffs. Police radio reports indicated there were two suspects wearing black hoods and white hockey masks who broke into the home and assaulted the homeowner.
As the suspects fled, a shot was fired, however a sergeant on scene told Channel 6 News no one was wounded. The victim of the assault was checked over at the scene and did not need to be taken to the hospital. No word from investigators on what, if anything, was taken.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff's deputies appeared to be investigating two separate scenes, the home and a gas station down the road.
No arrests have been made.
