Omaha Police hope some high quality surveillance video helps find the person who robbed a convenience store over the weekend.
A man armed with a gun held up the Kwik Shop at 48th and L Streets in Omaha just before midnight on Friday, October 30th. He pointed the gun at everyone in the store and demanded money. He also fired one round into the wall of the store.
The man’s face is clearly visible in the surveillance video. Police want to hear from you if you recognize him.
Omaha Police spokesman, Jacob Bettin says, “We're getting great footage of these suspects, which makes it a lot easier for the everyday citizen to identify somebody that they think that they know. So that really aids us in our investigations. And in this case, we hope that this great footage will bring an arrest.”
The Omaha Police Crime Prevention Bureau works with business to help keep them from being a target of a robbery or burglary. Officer Karl Koch says even things like taking down some of the posters in the windows can help deter a criminal. “So if they see somewhere where other people can see inside the business easily, where there's really good lighting, where there's a security system. Those things all help prevent the possibility of that business being a victim. Because there's a much higher risk presented to the offender.”
