Shots fired inside a house.
The Cassgram reports the the incident occurred Saturday morning in the 7000 block of 238th Street in the Alvo area.
Shotgun blasts and shots from a high-powered rifle were fired from inside a residence that resulted in extensive damage to the house, said Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann.
Deputies had been called to the location on three occasions late last week but had no justification in taking the individual into custody until the 4:45am 911 call from the man’s wife on Saturday. Several shotguns and the rifle had been discharged into the walls and through the windows. The woman said the man thought he was shooting at “large animals,” said the sheriff’s department report.
The man, the wife and neighbors all escaped injury.
Deputies placed the 52-year-old man in emergency protective custody and transported him to Midlands Hospital for a medical evaluation. After about 12 hours there he was admitted to another institution for observation.
