Nebraska State Patrol troopers will put in extra hours throughout the remainder of the Husker home football schedule.

Special enforcement efforts including high visibility patrols will take place before and after the remaining Husker home football games.

Motorists can expect to see extra troopers on the road for the October 17, Texas Tech game, the October 24, Iowa State game, November 7, Oklahoma and November 21, Kansas State contests.

The added enforcement will be paid for in part by a nearly $8,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

The Nebraska State Patrol encourages motorists to give themselves plenty of time to reach their destination.

Heavy traffic can mean congestion, slowdowns and delays both before and after the football games. Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limit, wear their seat belt, and never drive impaired.

I-80 widening projects between Omaha and Lincoln continue, as do numerous other highway improvement projects which may affect travel routes to and from Memorial Stadium.

Caution is urged in work zones. Motorists wanting to check their routes can do so by dialing 511, the state’s automated weather and road condition hotline.

The Nebraska State Patrol offers a Highway Helpline for anyone who observes a reckless or impaired driver, or anyone in need of non-emergency roadside assistance.

The Highway Helpline can be accessed by dialing (star) *55 on any cellular phone or 1-800-525-5555 from any landline.
