Lincoln's Haymarket neighborhood is being honored for its character and the role city planners played in creating it.
The American Planning Association named the Haymarket one of
this year's 10 great neighborhoods. All 10 great neighborhoods were
recognized on Wednesday.
The Haymarket area has developed over the past three decades as
the warehouse district was converted to restaurants, shops and
living space.
The group says Lincoln officials should be commended for their efforts to preserve the Haymarket's historic buildings while encouraging development.
