The body of a Laurel, Nebraska soldier missing since a 1965 helicopter crash in South Vietnam was finally laid to rest Saturday.

A memorial service was held for Donald Grella. His remains were then buried between his parents graves' at a Laurel cemetery.

Grella was 25 when his helicopter went down on December 28, 1965 during a supply mission. Ten minutes into the flight, the pilot radioed that the flight was difficult because of bad weather and darkness.

The wreckage was found in 2006, but it was three years before the site could be excavated. His body was identified earlier this year and were returned to his family in Nebraska last week.
