Shred It Before Identity Thieves Get It

Attorney General Jon Bruning announced today that his office and Shredding Solutions will host a free shredding event at the Community Safety and Wellness Festival in La Vista on Sunday, October 4.

“Identity theft is happening in our state,” said Bruning. “Last year, more than a thousand Nebraskans were victims of identity theft according to the Federal Trade Commission. People can easily protect themselves by shredding documents containing personal information.”

Nebraskans are invited to bring documents containing personal or financial information to the west end of the Embassy Suites/La Vista Conference Center parking lot, 12520 Westport Parkway ,from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Each participant is allowed up to 75 lbs. of documents. Shredding Solutions will provide secure, industrial shredding services.

What kind of documents should be shredded?

● Charge and debit card receipts

● Credit offers

● Expired credit cards

● Old bills

● Insurance and social security forms

● Medical records

● Checks and bank statements
