Nebraska Gets $777,000 To Better Unemployment Benefits

The Nebraska Department of Labor will receive more than $750,000 to upgrade the technology used to deliver unemployment benefits in the state.

The U.S. Department of Labor approved all seven of Nebraska's
supplemental budget requests this year, so the state will receive
$777,307.

Nationwide, the federal government awarded $165 million
in grants.

Nebraska Labor Commissioner Cathy Lang says the money will be
used for several different information technology projects over the
next year.

Lang says one of the largest projects will streamline the phone
system Nebraskans use to submit claims for unemployment benefits.
