A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northeastern Sarpy County in Nebraska and central Pottawattamie and northwestern Mills counties in Iowa until 4:30 p.m. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, including Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
June retail sales vary in Southeast Nebraska.
Cass County’s retail sales trend fared better than neighboring counties and the state as a whole for the second month in a row.
The Nebraska Department of Revenue`s Net Taxable Sales Report, comparing June 2009 to June 2008, has Cass County with a 2.8% sales increase to $10,249,010. In the Plattsmouth city limits, June sales were 1.1% lower at $4,848,762. (The May ‘09 report had Cass County with a 1.9% sales decrease and Plattsmouth with an 8.2% decrease.)
Statewide, June 2009 taxable sales were 3.4% lower than the previous year.
