Last November a car crashed into a metro hair salon.
Though nobody was injured, the accident has caused severe financial pain for the business owner.
Fate couldn't have cut it any closer for hair stylist Val Sterba.
A car smashed into Bella Dea Spa moments after she left her work station where the wall came crashing down.
"After talking to people who said oh my god you realize what a close call you had then it really hits," says Val Sterba.
As a driver pulled into park, her accelerator stuck and the car plowed through the office of owner Pam Rowland.
Rowland still has pieces of the carpet.
"It shows the wheels kept turning, keep running," says Rowland.
The crash happened about five minutes after Rowland left the building for an appointment. The thought of what could have happened is with her every day as she fights for reimbursement.
The driver has Travelers’ Insurance but Rowland has been waiting three-and-a-half months for a settlement check.
Last week she received an adjustor's letter asking for more details.
The letter is dated twice.
Rowland says "That tells me it must have sat in the company for three weeks and nobody did anything. And the time is tick, tick, tock and I have no money."
But her business couldn't wait so Pam hired contractors and has receipts for $20,000 in repairs.
"The contractors are calling me and wanting to put liens on things because of lack of payment from the insurance company," says Rowland.
The crash didn't injure the driver or her young granddaughter in the car and the salon staff escaped with their lives.
But a lucky moment has turned into months of frustration for Rowland whose bank account will be hurting until insurance pays her claim.
A spokesman for Travelers’ Insurance tells Six On Your Side that sometimes these claims are complicated and take time to resolve.
He says things are moving forward on their end.
In fact after a call from Six On Your Side Travelers sent a preliminary loss report for the spa owner to review.
Even so, she's filed a complaint against the company with the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
