The Lincoln man who smoked marijuana from a makeshift bong that had a kitten stuffed inside is going to jail for 90 days.
Lancaster County Judge Gale Pokorny also ordered 21-year-old Acea Schomaker to pay almost $1,200 in restitution to the Capitol Humane Society for its care of the kitten named Shadow, which has since been adopted.
Authorities charged Schomaker with animal cruelty in March after he was caught smoking pot from a contraption that had the cat stuffed inside its 12-by-6-inch base. Schomaker claimed he was trying to calm down the kitten.
Schomaker contends he's not an animal abuser. He told his probation officer that if he disliked an animal, he "would not be wasting pot on it."
