The Cassgram reports two year probation for a 19-year-old Plattsmouth man. Ryan M. Davis is spending 15 days in the Cass County Jail to start and then must follow the terms of the probation to avoid any other jail time.
Davis, who at one time had faced a Class II Felony for selling a small amount of marijuana on school grounds, received the sentence for a conviction of possession of money used in a drug transaction, a Class IV Felony. There was a plea agreement in the case.
Deputy Public Defender Julie Bear said Davis has already faced punishment outside the courtroom by losing a football scholarship to Peru State College due to the conviction. Added to that is the fact he’s a convicted felon at age 19, she said.
The prosecution joined in recommending the probation.
The aggravating factor in the case is the fact the drug transaction took place in a school setting, said Cass County District Judge Randall Rehmeier.
