A Plattsmouth woman accused of being on the lam for over five years is back in Cass County to face changes. 40-year-old Rena Camerlinck now faces a new felony charge in addition to the three charges she originally faced in 2005.
The Cassgram reports Camerlinck was recently arrested in Century, Florida. She was wanted on a Nebraska warrant for failure to appear for Cass County Court hearings on two second degree forgery charges (Class IV Felonies) and one misdemeanor forgery charge. The charges stem from alleged forgeries on checks stolen from a Plattsmouth business when Camerlinck was living in Plattsmouth in 2004 and 2005. She had pled not guilty to those charges in 2005.
In Camerlinck’s Cass County District Court appearance last week, alternate public defender Mike Ziskey—who had also represented Camerlinck in 2005—said Camerlinck knew the charges were still pending against her but she wanted to raise her children first and had planned to eventually come back to face the allegations.
Deputy Cass Attorney Steve Sunde asked for $300,000 bond. “She is the epitome of a flight risk.”
Ziskey asked for $5,000 bond.
