When our hair changes people notice.
That’s what 60 women were hoping for Monday night when they lined up at Dolce Salon to change their hair all at once and all for a good reason.
Vira Brooks was among the participants.
"What are we doing here is real special. Red highlights," says Brooks.
They're all getting one shade.
Kathryn McNamara of Omaha says "I said to my stylist just go at it. It doesn't even matter the red. She's just going to have at it."
All will become redheads for a deep reason.
"Every minute, one woman dies of heart disease and it's the number one killer of women," says Gabie Carstens, a 15-year-old participant.
"My friend died last week of a heart attack and I'm big supporter of the American Heart Association," says Marilyn Tipp of Bennington.
These women plan to make a statement by taking their new hair to heart.
"Someone will ask questions and those questions are going to open the door. I'm doing this and going red because I want women to know heart disease is the number one killer of women," says Brooks.
As these women turn heads with their new hues, one husband says he can't resist the red.
Scott McNamara says "I got the nails done instead of the hair. It's for a good cause. I’ve got to show up for work tomorrow and I'm not sure what we're going to do about that.
