It’s expected that about a million dollars will be needed for the new roof, fire sprinkler system, fire separation and other upgrades to the Cass County Courthouse in the next year.
The Cassgram reports that using money from the Inheritance Tax Fund had long been the unofficial plan but County Treasurer Richard Wassinger wanted direction from commissioners in finalizing the 2009-2010 budget.
Commissioners said Inheritance Tax funds would be used and a motion to that effect is likely to be offered at the next meeting.
There is currently about $4.5 million in the Inheritance Tax Fund.
