Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman has caught the attention of those who track government leaders in the high-tech world of information technology.
Heineman was recently profiled and interviewed by Government Technology Magazine as one of the most tech-savvy governors. An editor with the magazine said Nebraska could be a national model for sharing patient-health information electronically.
Heineman says there is a pilot project under way to share patient health information electronically that could provide lower-cost care to people when they are away from home.
The magazine also mentioned Nebraska's efforts to have a statewide system to allow police, fire, health care and other officials to more easily communicate with each other during emergencies.
