BBB Wants Scam Calls

The Heartland Better Business Bureau wants to hear about any deal for left over asphalt that paves the way for a possible scam.

Six On Your Side reported on a Blair homeowner who paid $9,400 for asphalt that was supposed to only cost $2,000.

An Iowa contractor who said he had material left over from a job nearby offer the hot deal. But Mark Fredrick he’s been getting the cold shoulder from the contractor since leaving with the check. Mark’s month old driveway is showing wrinkles and the contractor won’t return his calls.

A neighbor also paid for asphalt after being quoted a price of about $2,000 but when the final cost came in at $8,000 they canceled the check.
Better Business Bureau President Jim Hegarty says victims customers who buy into the offer or customers who passed onthe deal should call the BBB so an alert can be issued through bureaus nationwide.
