Southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa and northwest Missouri until 4 a.m. Sunday. This includes Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
An annual pelican festival at a park at Saylorville Lake near Des Moines may be canceled because the birds aren't coming anymore.
Jester Park is a resting stop for the American white pelican as they migrate south for the winter. Polk County conservation officials say because of silt problems in the lake, the area is becoming less suitable for the birds.
Officials say while the pelicans enjoy shallow water, they are running out of places to fish.
The festival was held on Sunday. Instead of the normal 10,000 pelicans a season -- between mid-August and early October -- there may be only be 500 this year.
Officials say the decline could end the festival, but a final decision hasn't been made.
