Nebraska Public Power District has the 200 residential customer volunteers needed for its EnergyWiseSM Pricing Pilot Program.
The Cassgram reports that the 11-month pilot program in Plattsmouth, Milford and Chadron will gain input about customers’ pricing preferences and response to time-varying price signals and real-time information on electric usage.
Feedback from the pilot will help determine if and when time-based rates should be offered to all NPPD residential and commercial customers.
Implementation of the new time-of-use rate option is made easier through the use of "smart" meters in NPPD’s service area.
NPPD is still accepting applications from commercial customers for the pilot.
