You Drink, You Drive, You Lose

The Nebraska State Patrol will be stepping up efforts to keep impaired drivers off the state's roads.

The patrol will participate in a nationwide campaign that kicks off Friday and continues through Labor Day.

The "You Drink & Drive, You Lose" campaign will have troopers and dispatchers working overtime. A more than $27,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will help cover the extra costs.

Patrol superintendent Col. Bryan Tuma says besides holiday travel, more people will be on the roads because of the State Fair and the first home Nebraska football game. He says troopers will be focused on curbing crash-causing behaviors.

The fair gets under way Aug. 28.

The Cornhuskers take on Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5.
