A half cent sales tax proposal goes in front of the Plattsmouth City Council this evening according to the Cassgram.
At the last council meeting, on a 5-2-1 vote, the council directed the city attorney to start the process of placing an additional half-percent sales tax before voters to pay for the $3.4 million downtown Streetscape project.
The resolution also includes language that removes the time limitation on the current one percent sales tax that is to expire in 2013.
If passed, tonight’s action item sets a special citywide election. It’s anticipated it would be a mail-in election on November 10th.
Other action includes awarding a contract on the painting of the water tower on South 18th Street and authorizing special assessments totaling over $1700 on three properties to pay for nuisance clean-up costs incurred by the city.
