Hollywood Studios are in a quandary as to whether they really want to support Redbox, the one-dollar a night DVD rental kiosk company.
The studios could choose to ride the massive growth wave of Redbox's consumer popularity, supplying the company with cheap wholesale discs-or starve it in the hopes of preserving higher priced purchases of out-of-theater movies.
20th Century Fox has fallen on the side of starvation...joining Universal Pictures.
But Sony has signed a five-year deal to supply Redbox.
Other studios are taking a wait-and-see approach.
