Corn Board Wants OK To Blend More Ethanol Into Gas

The Nebraska Corn Board says nearly 5,000 farmers sent postcards urging the Environmental Protection Agency to approve blending more ethanol with gasoline.

The Corn Board's Randy Klein says the response shows that ethanol enjoys strong support in Nebraska.

The EPA is considering a proposal that would allow a mixture of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline to be sold at gas stations. Currently, gas stations commonly sell a blend of 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gasoline.

Klein says using more ethanol in the blend would boost demand for the fuel and help ethanol makers in Nebraska.

The EPA is not expected to issue its ruling on the 15 percent ethanol proposal before December.
