A former Nebraska City police officer has been sentenced to 18 months of probation for peeping into a home while on duty.

Lance Bennett also was ordered Monday by an Otoe County judge to pay a $150 fine.

The 29-year-old Bennett resigned in March after pleading not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass. He had been on the force for about three years.

Authorities say Bennett was caught the night of Aug. 6 looking into a back window of a home. He had been on patrol, in uniform.
