State parks officials are gearing up for an August workshop designed to help families become more outdoorsy.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is taking applications for the Becoming an Outdoors Family workshop set for Aug. 7-9 at Ponca State Park in the state's northeast corner.
Classes offered include archery, basic outdoor first aid, lake fishing, camping and beginning shotgun.
The workshop at Ponca State Park is open to family members who are at least 8 years old.
The fee is $55 for adults and $45 for children ages 8-12.
