A Cass County Judge has decided there is enough evidence to move forward with a trial in the case of David Kofoed, the commander of the Douglas County Crime Scene Investigations Unit.

Kofoed is accused of mishandling blood evidence that resulted in two men being wrongly accused in a 2006 double murder case.

Nicholas Sampson and Matthew Livers were initially charged in the murders of a Cass County couple. They were held in jail for months before being cleared.

Kofoed also faces four federal charges related to his work on the case. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges, which include falsifying records.
