Tree-planting and landscaping grants are available from the 2009 Trees for Nebraska Towns program.
It is part of the ReTree Nebraska initiative, which is aimed at planting 1 million trees by 2017.
Grant winners must plant trees that eventually will exceed 40 feet in height or spread.
Projects must be on public or nonprofit property and directly benefit the public.
The maximum grant is $20,000, and a 50 percent funding match is required, whether in cash or goods and services.
Application deadline to the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is July 31.
