Nebraska To Receive $1.7 Million To Buy Appliances

Nebraska will receive more than $1.7 million from the federal stimulus package to help residents buy energy-efficient home appliances.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Energy announced the funding that will be funneled through a state-run rebate program.

The money will be used to help residents buy home appliances that meet so-called Energy Star efficiency guidelines. The guidelines are set by the federal government.

The Nebraska Energy Office must submit a plan that specifies which appliances will be included in its rebate program, the rebate level for each product type, how the rebates will be processed, and its plan for recycling old appliances.
