No Pay Raises For Top 5 Nebraska Educators

The top five administrators in the University of Nebraska system won't be getting pay raises this year.

The five are the president of the NU system and the chancellors of the four campuses.

Most university employees got raises on July 1: around 1.5 percent at the Lincoln and Medical Center campuses, 2.9 percent at the Kearney campus and 3.8 percent at the other Omaha campus.

Regent Jim McClurg says his board colleagues agreed that in these difficult economic times, it made sense to hold the line on those five administrators' salaries.

He says the five also won't be getting a salary supplement provided by the NU Foundation.

That money is aimed at making their salaries comparable to those paid to the top administrators at similar universities.
