A 5-year-old is in critical but stable condition at Creighton University Medical Center after being found unresponsive in Elmwood Pool in Omaha on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say a juvenile swimming in the pool first spotted the 5-year-old just after 1:30 p.m. and got the child out before lifeguards stepped in and began CPR.
"A lot is to be said for the little kid who happened to see this child floating and knew what to look for and what doesn't look right and knew enough to drag him out of the pool and find someone," said OPD Sgt. Kevin Housh.
The victim's name has not been released.
