A company that makes polyethylene air ducts will open a new manufacturing operation in Omaha that will initially involve the creation of 30 jobs. Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle announced the partnership with CDC Enterpises, Inc. at a news conference Tuesday morning.
The company will locate a production facility in North Omaha, an area of the Metro that typically suffers from above-average unemployment.
Suttle said the jobs will pay between $15 and $18 an hour. He said they are not just jobs but careers.
CDC Enterprises is located in Minnesota. Its duct work system for heating and cooling is different in that it's actually buried in the foundation of the home in a way that is similar if not identical to the major plumbing lines that are typically buried in the foundation.
Federal taxpayers are underwriting part of the project because some of the money is coming from the stimulus plan passed earlier this year by Congress.
