Bond is set at $1 million for a 24-year-old man accused of killing Aplington-Parkersburg high school football coach Ed Thomas.

Mark Becker is charged with first-degree murder in the death of the 58-year-old coach.

Thomas was shot Wednesday morning inside a weight room adjacent to the school during an offseason team workout. Investigators says he walked past about 20 students before shooting Thomas several times.

Becker was arrested a short time later in the driveway of his parents' home.

Bond was set Wednesday afternoon. Online court records show Becker's next court appearance is July 2.

The Butler County sheriff's office says Becker was moved the Cerro Gordo County jail in Mason City late Wednesday. Dispatcher Katie Dann said Thursday morning that she didn't know why Becker was moved.
