Council Bluffs officials report that a house fire took the life of a man early Thursday morning.
Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Hutcheson of Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue said the fire happened at 205 Hyde Avenue. The male victim is identified as 21-year-old Trevor Frederickson.
Neighbors say there were flames shooting from the home when firefighters first arrived and that the were worried for the people inside.
The fire also did serious damage to the home.
The home appeared to be undergoing some repairs with most of the damage on the second floor.
The fire was put out in about 20 minutes. The cause is still under investigation.
