An Omaha man was taken to the hospital after flipping his car and hitting a house Wednesday morning for the second time this week.

Police were called to 41st Avenue and P streets for a rollover accident. The driver, 64-year-old John Mika, who lives down the street, suffered minor injuries.

“They took him in a stretcher and he had a neck brace on and he had some damage to his knuckles, but he was wearing his seat belt they said,” says Joe Helmers.

The homeowner tells Channel 6 News the same driver hit her garage Monday on his way to dialysis. She says the man was returning from dialysis Wednesday when he lost control. No one else was injured.

Jennifer Villfuerte got the news while she was at work. “When I answered the phone she said somebody crashed in front of your house and I almost said this is not funny, this is a joke, because Monday morning at 5:20 a.m. the same person hit and ran our garage."

Mika, a retired priest, goes to dialysis three times a week. He was cited Monday for leaving the scene of an accident after hitting the garage. He was ticketed Wednesday for running a stop sign and colliding with a fixed object.

Helmers spoke with Mika after Monday’s crash.

"He had stated to us, my wife and I, that he had every intention of letting the homeowners know what he did. He wasn't trying to leave the scene of the accident, but he didn't want to be late for dialysis either. But he was going to let them know when he got home."

Neighbors say police impounded his car after Monday’s crash, but released it back to him later in the day.

"My son just left," says Villfuerte. "Right where he hit we have a TV and a couch so somebody obviously would have been affected by it. What are our chances? You know what I mean? What are our chances of this happening twice in two days?"

Villfuerte says Mika has had trouble with driving in the past. "He had a claim last year where he took out the neighbor's fence from driving, again, the same vehicle. So I think they should have looked into it a little bit more."
