In our weekly fashion update, Mal from La Vie Cherie tells us about something we do not think about often – the health of our feet.
We know that no girl can have too many pairs of shoes. However, the most important pair are your athletic or running shoes. If you have the wrong pair, you're more prone to injury which is why Mal spoke to Christy Nielsen, an orthopedic physical therapist to give us the secrets of how to buy the right pair of shoes.
Nielsen says, “I've been here at Nebraska orthopedic hospital for 6 years. I'm a three time Olympics trials qualifier in the marathon.”
As for tips, Nielsen says the biggest thing to learn is what kind of foot you have. A lot of the running type stores can tell you that. The major difference can be seen in a foot’s arch.
Nielsen created a custom mold of Mal’s foot. From that, a pair of shoes (or shoe inserts) can be made for Mal to take care of three pressure points in her feet.
